A: Yes. If you are certain that you won't be able to graduate on time, bachelor students can apply for a Certificate of Extended Study at the Registration section on the first floor of the Administration Building. Master students should apply through their department office. Once you receive the certificate, upload it to the "Other Documents" folder in the work permit application system.
Please note that students with extended study status can only apply between July 1st and September 30th. Starting October 1st, you must reapply using a new Certificate of Enrollment for the new semester.
A：Students can take a part-time job in Taiwan, but only with a work permit. If students have violated the regulations and work illegally, they will be fined not less than NTD 30,000 and not more than NTD 150,000. Students are advised to take safer jobs.
A：You can apply for a work permit after you've obtained your ARC. Students will need to head over to OICA and obtain the payment slip and affidavit.
A：You should pay NTD100 at a post office or ATM or Taiwan pay app to apply for a work permit .
A：According to the regulations of the Ministry of Labor:
1.For applying for a work permit, there are 2 periods: For applications made in the Fall semester, the work permit is valid until March 31st of the next year (Fall Semester: 1/10 to next year 31/3); for applications made in the Spring semester, the work permit is valid until September 30th of the same year (Spring Semester:1/4 to 30/9 the same year). The period validity of work permits is 6 months at most.
2. For Graduate students, the application time is only valid until June 30th of the same year.
3. If you plan to postpone your study and would like to work during the summer/winter break, you have to ask for a certificate issued by Registration Section, thus you may apply for a work permit between July/January and September/February. When you complete the school registration, you will be allowed to apply for the next period.
4.If you are enrolled in spring semester, your 8th semester will be indicated as 5th year in the Information System. Please refer to the above mentioned point 3 and follow the procedure.
A： According to Taiwan's regulations, since February 1st , 2019, overseas students have applied for work permits have been fully online application. After agreeing and obtaining consent with the overseas student in accordance with the provisions, the application for a work permit shall be delivered by electronic work permit after the approval of the Ministry of Labor. A：It depends on the announcement of the Ministry of Labor, the pay would be adjusted each year.

A： Students should apply for Resident Visa, instead of Visitor Visa.
A：You should apply for Resident Visa then apply for the ARC.
A：You have to apply for ARC within 15 days of entry.

A：To apply for Resident Visa, you will need：

A: Foreign students who enroll in degree programs at Taiwanese universities in accordance with the "Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan" and stay in Taiwan for more than 180 days must apply for and hold a Resident Visa to enter the country. Additionally, they are required to apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) at the National Immigration Agency within 15 days of arrival.

A：ARC is an Identification Card for foreigners, usually required for banking and is required for immigration entrance.
A：If you're freshmen at ISU, OICA will help you but you need to apply it online by yourselves.Once you've been in Taiwan for a full year, you will need to apply for an extension online .
A：Students are required to apply for the ARC within 30 days upon arrival. You can seek assistance from OICA as well. Click to find instructions.

Students are advised to apply for an extension 90 days before the date of expiration. In cases of early application due to the summer/winter travel plan,you may
1. Extend your ARC online before leaving Taiwan: Submit the required documents: passport、photo、old ARC and a flight ticket and an enrollment certificate for next semester(should pay the tuition fee first then download an enrollment certificate for next semester in the Information System).
2. Extend your ARC online at home country: Submit the required documents: passport、photo、old ARC and an enrollment certificate for next semester(should pay the tuition fee first then download an enrollment certificate for next semester in the Information System). When you come back Taiwan, you are required to show your old ARC and a receipt while passing Customs and Immigration. Afterward you will go to a designated immigration office with the Receipt and OLD ARC to get a NEW one.

A：The cost of National Health Insurance (NHI) should be included in the tuition fee every semester if you are eligible to underwrite an insurance policy under NHI. The cost is TWD 826 each month (according to the fee criteria set by NHI), so payment per semester is TWD 4,956 (from September to February and March to August).
A：
1.For newly arrived students who have NOT been in Taiwan for 6 months, should enroll to group medical insurance (which is similar to National Heath Insurance) for a fee of TWD 500 per month, total TWD 3,000 per semester. For the details, please see Details for Group Medical Insurance
2. Overseas students who stay for a full 180 days and have not leave Taiwan for 30 days or more are qualified for applying for the National Health Insurance.
3.Reimbursement procedure for Group Medical Insurance: You need to pay the full fee for the treatment yourself first. Make sure to get both the payment receipt and your certificate of diagnosis, and then get an application form at OICA.
A：Do make sure to return within 29 days to be qualified for the National Health Insurance.
A：When you finish your internship or part-time jobs, please remember to transfer your NHI back to school.
Please request your previous company where you worked for an Insurance Details, then email to kelly940938@isu.edu.tw, with your Student ID and Name for enrollment of NHI.
OICA will process to transfer back your NHI to school once email received.

A：In addition to the tuition, there are other required fees, such as insurance premiums, ARC application fee, health examination fee, etc.
A：The fee will be NTD 530, and will be charged when you're a freshman.
A：The fee will be NTD 830, and only freshmen ,senior students, and transfer freshmen will be charged.
A：There are two types of insurance premiums that students need to pay：
   1. Student Safety Insurance：
     around NTD335、NTD3000.
   2. National Health Insurance：
     NTD 4,956.
A：The fee for health examination will be around NTD 1000. HK.MO students will be around NTD 2600.
A： Depends to the books that assign by the teacher, each referral book usually cost around NTD 500 to NTD1,000.
A：One new SIM card costs around NTD 500.
A：It costs around NTD 50. Apply at OICA . The stamp can be used to open an account at a post office or a bank.
A：The material fees for each semester will be around NTD 5,000 to NTD 8,000. While the uniform for the internship costs around NTD 7,500. (Please ask your department office for the exact and accurate amount.)
A：The expenses depend on your personal lifestyle preference. The average monthly expenses is between NTD 6,000 and NTD 10,000.
A：Freshman is advised to prepare around NTD 20,000.

A：When international students apply to the University, their qualifications will be reviewed by the ISU Scholarship Review Committee, which will determine the amount of scholarship to be awarded.
A：The award period for I-Shou University’s International Student Scholarship is regulated as follows:

1.Undergraduate: up to 4 years

2.Master’s: up to 2 years
A：The award amounts for I-Shou University’s International Student Scholarship are regulated as follows:

1.New international students: NT$40,000 to NT$175,000 (disbursed in two installments)

2.Current international students: Up to full tuition and fees waiver (awarded on a semester basis)
A：Eligibility Requirements for International Students Applying for the University’s International Student Scholarship

1.New International Students:

Prior to admission, applications will be reviewed by the University Scholarship Committee based on the submitted documents. Scholarships will be awarded proportionally according to the number of available quotas.

Applicants who do not receive the scholarship upon admission may apply for the “Current Student Scholarship” starting from their second semester.

2.Current International Students:

A.Must have completed at least one academic year of study and ranked within the top 40% of their class in the previous semester.

B.Must have obtained a conduct grade of at least 85 in the previous semester, with no record of disciplinary action of minor demerit or above.

C.Must have taken at least 9 credits in the previous semester. If fewer than 9 credits were taken, the scholarship amount will be adjusted proportionally according to the number of credits taken (Scholarship Amount × Credits Taken ÷ 9).
A：

1.New International Students:

Applications must be submitted before admission, in line with the application deadlines for the University’s Fall or Spring semester intake.

2.Current International Students:

Applications must be submitted to the Office during Weeks 15 to 18 of the semester.
A：
1.New International Students (Before Admission):
a) Scholarship application form.
b) Copy of curriculum vitae (CV).
c) Copy of a recommendation letter in Chinese or English.
d) Copies of other supporting documents related to academic performance or extracurricular activities.
e) Copy of the official transcript of the highest academic degree in Chinese or English, or proof of class ranking/percentage.
f) If applicable, copy of the national standardized exam results from the applicant’s home country.

2.Current International Students:
a) Scholarship application form (required only for master’s and doctoral applicants).
b) Academic departments of graduate programs may establish their own criteria for academic performance ranking and provide the results to the Office as reference for scholarship review.
c) Proof of overseas volunteer service.
d) Certificate of service-learning.

Note:
Since 2019, undergraduate students are not required to submit the scholarship application form. The Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs (OICA) will automatically collect and review the academic records of all international undergraduate students who meet the eligibility criteria. Students with volunteer or service-learning certificates are advised to submit them to OICA for review.
A: The results of the “Service Learning Certification” each semester will be taken into consideration when reviewing applications or renewals of the International Student Scholarship. Students are encouraged to actively participate in service learning if they wish to apply for or continue receiving the scholarship. For more details, please visit the website of the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs.
A：The awarded International Student Scholarship will be applied to offset tuition and other fees. If there is any remaining balance, it will be granted to the student. If the scholarship amount is insufficient to cover the related fees, the student must pay the difference.
A: The conditions under which international students will have their approved scholarships or grants canceled and revoked are as follows:

1. New or current students who fail to complete registration, apply for suspension of studies, or transfer to another school within the academic year.

2. Suspension of studies or withdrawal during the semester.

3. Attendance falling below 70% within the first nine weeks of the semester.

4. Clearly engaging in activities inconsistent with the purpose of studying in Taiwan.

5. Receiving a disciplinary record of minor demerit or above.

6. Conduct grade from the previous semester falling below 85 (applies to students who resume studies after suspension).

** If a scholarship recipient is found to have engaged in forgery, alteration, or falsification, and such misconduct is substantiated with concrete evidence, their scholarship eligibility will be revoked, and all previously received scholarship funds must be returned.
A: The student must repay the full amount of the scholarship or grant in order to maintain their student status. Failure to do so may result in deportation to their home country in accordance with the law.
A: Foreign students may refer to the following external scholarships and grants. However, please note that students who are already receiving any scholarship or grant from the Taiwan government are not eligible to receive the university’s foreign student scholarship concurrently :

A：You can:
   1. Freshman Before coming：Overseas Online Payment.
   2. Freshman After arriving：Pay by cash (Pay upon registration day)
   3. Prospective Student :Overseas Online Payment, Pay by cash upon Post Office.
A：Students can log into Information System（LINK），click at (Payments) -> (Bill Printing)，select pay by credit card.
A：Student will need to obtain your bill. (Freshman can obtain your bill upon registration day, while the school will send it to the prospective students via their department), then pay at the Post Office.
A：Student should make sure to availability to withdraw cash overseas for your bank card, so that student can withdraw at any ATM in Taiwan. Then students can obtain your bill and then pay by cash at the Post Office.

A：Service Education is a compulsory score with 0 credits. You will need to complete this to be able to graduate. Students will need to complete a 16 hours service education hours which includes Service Learning Courses, Volunteers.

A：Students can log into the information system with one time pass（LINK），then change your password.

A：Freshman can get your student ID number via your admission letter.

A：The procedure is as below :
   1. Students will need to login to the information system（LINK）
   2. Agree to the terms and conditions
   3. Click at Freshman Survey
   4. Read the Informations about the format your picture and upload it.
   5. Complete the survey regarding your reply on Accommodation, Shuttle Bus service & Freshman Orientation
A：International Students will obtain their bill to pay for the semester's fee, then pay at the post office. Hand in the receipt and register at the Registration Department at the administration building.
Pease pay attention to The Guidelines on Deferred Payment (Installment) of Tuition and Other Required Fees at I-Shou University revised on August 22,2023,
I. The payment deadline and the amount for each installment:
• 1st installment: 1/3 of the total amount should be paid before the first day of school.
• 2nd installment: 1/3 of the total amount should be paid before the 8th week of the semester.
• 3rd installment: 1/3 of the total amount should be paid before the 16th week of the semester or before the 14th week of the semester (for graduands).
• If the applicant meets the requirement specified in Item 1, Subparagraph 1, Paragraph 1, Provision V of the Guidelines and his/her application for deferred payment is approved, he/she shall pay off the tuition and other required fees equally between the 10th week of the semester and the deadline for the 3rd installment.
II.Applicants who have not paid off their installments in the previous semester are not permitted to apply for deferred payment in the following semester and shall be regarded as unenrolled students in accordance with the Academic Rules of the University. They are not permitted to conduct the check-out process until they have paid off the tuition and other required fees before graduating from the University or when applying for suspension of schooling or withdrawal from the University. According to the school's regulations, the last semester, for which the full tuition and miscellaneous fees must be paid, is not eligible for deferred payment.
III. The first checkpoint will be handled by the Office of International & Cross-strait Affairs (Ms. Sophie: registration for application, Ms. Kelly/Lihan: scholarships) --> Department --> 1st payment in the Information System --> Accounting Office --> Cashier --> return the form to the Office of International & Cross-strait Affairs
IV.If the application form is not completed or, upon completion, not submitted to the Office of International & Cross-strait Affairs, the deferred (installment) payment of tuition fees will be deemed incomplete, thus you need to pay the full amount of tuition fees to finalize the semester registration process.

A：A period of class is at around 50 minutes. The first period of class starts at 8.20 am and the last period ends at 6.20 PM.

A：Foreign students have the right to apply for priority housing, but new foreign students must pay the housing reservation fee online at the school's "Application Information System" by the deadline after receiving the admission notice (please refer to the "Information for Foreign Students - New Students" handbook for the current academic year) to protect the right to priority housing during the academic year.
A：The accommodation reservation fee for foreign students is NT$1,500.
A：The current room types and descriptions provided by the school are as follows：
   1. The first dormitory in the main campus (4-person room)
     * Common bathing facilities
     * Air-conditioning (with stored value card)
     * Accommodation fee is calculated in 1 semester

     * Bathroom facilities are provided in the room.
     * Air conditioning (paid according to the electricity meter and deducted once every three months)
     * A security deposit of NT$3,800 is required, which can be refunded upon the expiration of the lease.
     * Rent is payable in two installments from September 1 to July 31 of the following year.
     * If you apply for renewal, you will be provided with the accommodation for the month of August free of charge, but you will have to pay for the electricity.
     * Students do not need to change rooms during summer and winter vacations.
   3. Medical School Dormitory Area (3-person room)
     * Only for students from medical school related departments
     * Bathroom facilities are available in the rooms.
     * Air-conditioning (with the use of a stored value card)
     * Students must apply to move to the dormitory area of National Taiwan University Hospital (2-person room) when the dormitory is closed during winter and summer vacations, and the accommodation fee will be charged separately.
   4. Ui Tai Hospital Dormitory Area (2-person room)
     * Bathroom facilities in the room
     * Air conditioning (according to electricity meter)
     * Security deposit of NTD 4,500 is required and can be refunded after the lease expires.
     * Rent is payable in two installments from September 1 to July 31 of the following year.
     * If you apply for renewal, you will be provided with the accommodation for the month of August free of charge, but you will have to pay for the electricity.
     * Students do not need to change rooms during summer and winter vacations.

A：The dormitory fees are as follows (the actual fees are based on the announcement of the school's accommodation section, and the estimated amounts will be adjusted according to the actual situation)：

     * Accommodation fee: NT$10,900 (for one semester, including water and electricity)

   3. Medical School Dormitory Area (3 persons room)
     * Accommodation fee: NT$17,500 (for one semester)
     * Derivative fees: Air conditioning card, coin-operated washing machine and clothes dryer
   4. Yida Hospital Dormitory Area (2-person room)
     * Security deposit: NT$4,500
     * Rent: NT$27,000 for the first period (September 1 to February 28); NT$22,500 for the second period (March 1 to July 31)
     * Electricity bill: paid according to the electricity meter
     * Derivative fee: coin-operated washing machine and clothes dryer

A：All dormitory rooms are provided with basic facilities such as desks and chairs, bookcases, closets, internet and air-conditioning, and the following facilities：
   1. The first dormitory in the main campus (4-person room)
     * Lounge, reading room, recreational sports facilities, coin-operated washing machine and clothes dryer, dehydrator and water dispenser, etc.
     * Beds are bunk beds, measuring approximately 195cm long and 88cm wide (you must bring your own pillow, quilt and mattress)
   2. International Residence Hall 3, Main Campus (3-person room)（3人房）
     * Large common space for reading, small gatherings and meetings, coin-operated washing machine and clothes dryer, dehydrator and water dispenser, etc.
     * Mattress size of 196cm long and 100cm wide (you need to bring your own pillow and quilt)
   3. Medical school dormitory area (3-person room)
     * Social hall, recreation and sports facilities, coin-operated washing machines and dryers, water dispensers and drinking fountains, etc.
     * Mattress size: 202cm in length and 107cm in width (you need to bring your own pillow, quilt, bedspread and cleaning pad)
   4. dormitory area of Yida Hospital (2 persons room)
     * Lounge, recreation and sports facilities, coin-operated washing machine and clothes dryer, dehydrator and water dispenser, etc.
     * Mattress size: 205cm in length and 100cm in width (you need to bring your own pillow, quilt, bedspread, and cleaning pad)
A：Students are advised to search for apartments in the vicinity of the campus on the website of Taiwan Rentals（EX. https://www.591.com.tw/）, but before signing the contract, they should pay attention to the following points：
   1. proper rent
   2. rental period
   3. deposit amount
   4. payment terms and methods
   5. breach of contract
   6. lease renewal
   7. Please be careful and record the landlord's personal information, it is recommended to ask Taiwanese students to accompany you to participate in rental matters
A：Students can refer to the following two ways：
1. International phone：You can buy an international phone card from any convenience store and follow the instructions on the card to call home.
2. E-mail family：All dormitories are equipped with internet access, you can purchase an internet cable from the school bookstore and follow the steps to set it up on your personal computer to connect to the internet.
A：Yes, the school dormitory is closed from 11:30 pm to 6:00 am. If you need to stay overnight or return late, please inform the dormitory management in advance.

A：Students can withdraw money from the ATMs located at the following locations：
   1. Main Campus：Activity Center 1F (Land Bank), Administration Building 3F (Land Bank), Post Office ATM
   2. Yan Chao Branch： Academic Building A/B building corridor (Land Bank), Academic Building B/C building corridor (Chang Hwa Bank)

A：U.S. dollars are not commonly used in Taiwan, so please be sure to exchange your U.S. dollars or other currencies into New Taiwan Dollars at the airport bank. If you do not have time to exchange at the airport bank, you can go to the service counter in Area A of the Yi Da World Shopping Plaza to exchange.
A：Yes, students can contact the International and Cross-Strait Office and entrust the school's Cashier's Office to keep it for them temporarily.
A：Application for post office or bank (only the age must be 18 years old or above) to open an account requires the following relevant documents and papers：

A：There are 10 school sessions, 1 to 4, Z, 5 to 9. A school session is 50 minutes long, with the first session starting at 8:20 a.m. and the last session ending at 6:20 a.m., with 10-minute intervals between each session (except for 20-minute intervals between Z and 5).

A：In order to give first-time students and their parents peace of mind, we will provide shuttle service from Kaohsiung Airport and Zuoying High Speed Rail Station to foreign students before the start of each semester. For this purpose, foreign students should pay attention to the following important points.
   1. Please fill out the "Connection Service or Self-Arrival Survey Form" in the application system（LINK）before the deadline (please refer to the registration Q&A)
   2. Please refer to the current academic year's Foreign Student - New Student Orientation Handbook or visit the school's International Office website（LINK）for recommended arrival times.
   3. If you are unable to meet the schedule, please inform us in advance so that we can reserve an international residence or dormitory.
   4. If you are unable to accommodate the shuttle service, you may arrive at the school on your own, but you will be responsible for the cost. For the same transportation information, please refer to the following suggestions
A：The school has set up two locations for foreign students to connect to:
   1. Kaohsiung International Airport：
     * In the arrival hall, volunteers wearing yellow undershirts and holding signs in English and Chinese welcome new students.
   2. Zuoying High Speed Rail Station：
     * In front of the Starbucks inside the station, volunteers in yellow undershirts hold signs in English and Chinese to welcome new students.
A：Students who fly into Taiwan on their own can take the following two routes：
   1. Students arrive at Kaohsiung International Airport
     Option 1：Taxi (the journey takes about 45 minutes; the fare is about 500-700 RMB)

     Option 2：Yida Bus(total journey time: about 1 hour; fare: about NT$100)

     Option 1：Shuttle Bus→THSR→Taxi/Yida Bus
     Route:[Taoyuan International Airport] → [THSR Taoyuan Station] → [THSR Zuoying Station] → [Yishou University Main Campus or Yanshao Branch of the School of Medicine].
     * There is a bus stop in the first terminal (B1 bus area) and the second terminal (1F corridor on the northeast side of the pick-up hall) of Taoyuan Airport (the journey takes about 15 minutes and the fare is about NT$30).
     * Take the High Speed Rail (HSR) from "HSR Taoyuan Station" to "HSR Zuoying Station" (the journey time is about 90 minutes, the fare is about NT$1,330)
     * Arrive at Zuoying Station and transfer to Yida Bus, please refer to the above method.
